When you know that you have lost a fight, it is kind of obnoxious for your enemy to drag it out further and further. It is such a villain thing to monologue when they could just win and gloat afterwards. That was never Maleficent’s style, though.
When she tries to kill Prince Charming, she goes for the big guns right away! She just up and transforms into a crazy dragon and tries to roast him with her fiery breath. That’s a sloid plan. She could have had no way of knowing that the prince would be able to defeat her with the magic of the fairies and all the luck in the world. It just wasn’t her day. But at the end of the day, she could at least be proud that didn’t fall into the classic monologuing villain trope!
